Polish dry bulk carrier Polsteam has upgraded connectivity and cyber security across its fleet of 50 vessels to support more secure and efficient digital operations, deploying a hybrid network combining Starlink low earth orbit connectivity with traditional VSAT, managed through Marlink’s XChange platform.

The configuration will provide higher bandwidth and lower latency to improve operational communications and crew welfare while enabling remote data exchange and digital reporting, Marlink said.

Polsteam is also introducing an integrated cyber security layer, including application control, web filtering, intrusion protection and antivirus systems, designed to protect business-critical vessel networks and strengthen compliance with international cyber requirements.

“Our internationally trading fleet requires us to maintain a high level of interaction between masters and managers, using increasingly advanced tools for collaboration,” said Adam Rogucki, Technical Director, Polsteam.

“The Marlink solution enables us to enhance our remote operations in a secure environment, increasing efficiency and leisure solutions for our crews.”
