The upcoming conservative mayor in Kerteminde expects it will be several years before the city council can make a decision on the port expansion in Odense, writes Søfart.
A previously solid majority in the Kerteminde city council to support the port expansion in Odense has, after the municipal election, been reduced to a majority of just one seat.
And this means, according to the upcoming conservative mayor, Michael Nielsen, that there is no prospect of the process regarding the port expansion being accelerated.
On the contrary, it will take longer.
“I cannot imagine it will go any faster than now. Therefore, we are probably talking about a timeframe of several years,” says Michael Nielsen (K) to Søfart.
He is supported by Liberal Alliance, Dansk Folkeparti and Hverdagens Stemme, who are all against the expansion of the port in Odense, which will mean a deeper fairway, a new quay and 1 million sqm for new industrial businesses.
