A major Scottish port has appointed a new harbour master, operations manager and head of engineering following a major expansion and emissions-reduction drive
Port of Aberdeen has welcomed Benji Morrison as its new harbour master, promoted John Wilson to the position of head of engineering within the executive leadership team and appointed Peter Suttie as operations manager.
Mr Morrison joins the port in northeast Scotland, UK, with more than 20 years’ experience in port management and marine operations, most recently as assistant harbour master at Stornoway Port, Scotland.As harbour master, he will manage the marine department and be responsible for ensuring relevant statutory requirements are met for safe navigation.
Mr Wilson has more than 35 years of engineering experience and worked at Arch Henderson prior to joining the port in 2015.
Mr Suttie joined the port in 2016 as a vessel traffic services (VTS) assistant and previously served as deputy operations manager and interim operations manager.
In other executive moves, Lewis Matheson was promoted to deputy harbour master, while Natalie Shaw and Ralph Grieg have been promoted to the newly established positions of VTS supervisor and pilotage supervisor, respectively.
Port of Aberdeen handles 7,000 vessels annually, accounting for 45% of Scotland’s total vessel traffic. Spanning 7,600 m of quayside and extensive operational areas, it serves a wide range of sectors, including oil and gas, offshore wind, cruise, cargo and roro traffic.
