Fit Cisl Liguria has expressed solidarity with the workers
Filt Cgil and Uiltrasporti have declared five days of
strike at the Bettolo Terminal of the port of Genoa, an action that
begins today and was decided – the unions announced –
to protest “against a very poor work organization
that is strongly penalizing the workforce: we do not understand –
denounced Fabio Ferretti of Filt Cgil Genova, Duilio Falvo,
secretary for the port of Genoa of Uiltrasporti Liguria, and Stefano
degli Innocenti, official for the port of Genoa of Uiltrasporti
Liguria – how it is possible that after five years and a very long
start-up the company is still not in a position to operate with
an adequate work organization.”
Filt Cgil and Uiltrasporti explained that the lack of
work organization, determined by incomprehensible corporate
choices, does not meet the minimum necessary requirements,
both numerical and in terms of setup, to be adopted in the short and medium term
in order to guarantee operations while respecting the rights and
safety of employees. Furthermore, the perplexities
reported regarding the training of workers remain –
the unions specified – who, moreover, are frequently assigned
an excessive number of different tasks from each other
within the same shift. This situation has further
worsened with the start of railway operations in the “Rugna”
park.” Filt Cgil and Uiltrasporti have
urged a rapid change of this situation.
Specifying that it was excluded from the discussion by Filt Cgil
and Uiltrasporti, Fit Cisl Liguria expressed “solidarity
with the workers of the Bettolo Terminal, for the strong
signal.” “Fit-Cisl – explains the trade union
organization in a note – morally adheres to the workers’ protest,
despite having been excluded from the trade union discussion by the
other two confederal unions. This morning Fit-Cisl carried out a
leafleting of solidarity at the terminal’s turnstiles, to
concretely testify its closeness to the female and
male workers involved. We trust in a shared and
participatory solution, which protects the rights of all and does not impose further
economic sacrifices on those who every day guarantee with commitment and
professionalism the functioning of the terminal.
