The Port of Tórshavn has implemented a new Port Management Information System (PMIS) from Grieg Connec, including digital tools for port call management, mobile support, data warehousing using Power BI, and invoicing integration.
Real-time AIS data from MRCC is also visualised in the platform, to assist in automating arrival and departure logging. The system went live this month.
“We wanted a system that could support more efficient processes, provide better traceability, and ensure high-quality data across our daily work,” said Hanus Mikkelsen, CEO, Port of Tórshavn.
“Going digital helps us make better decisions and offer a more professional service to our users.”
Environmental functionality is built into the platform, with the port now using the Environmental Port Index (EPI) to automatically apply in-port emissions discounts. The index is already in use at more than 50 ports in the Nordic region.
Tórshavn also has the option to activate a Port Community module in future, allowing agents and shipping lines to submit berth and service requests or cargo notifications digitally.
“It’s been a pleasure working with the team in Tórshavn. They’ve been engaged from day one, and we’re proud to see the port now operating with a solid digital foundation,” said Espen Ranvik, CEO of Grieg Connect.
Tórshavn is the latest in a network of more than 85 Nordic ports using the cloud-based PMIS.
