Between January and June, the number of containers transported by rail increased by 12% compared to the same period the previous year
Valencia – In the first half of 2025, the port system of Valencia handled 1,221,014 tonnes of goods by rail, equivalent to 131,795 teu.
Rail traffic accounted for over 8% of the total land traffic of the port of Valencia, confirming itself as a strategic component of port logistics. Between January and June, the number of containers transported by rail increased by 12% compared to the same period the previous year, while the increase in terms of tonnes reached 18%.
Direct inbound and outbound operations by rail from the port facilities recorded 26,382 teu and 242,968 total tonnes. Currently, ten companies operate in the rail services connecting the port of Valencia with the main logistics hubs of the hinterland, including Madrid, Valladolid, Bilbao, and Zaragoza, which are the primary destinations for port-rail freight traffic.
