The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez and the general director, Manuel García, have visited the new facilities of Terminal Marítima de Grao (TMG) where a new mechanized warehouse equipped with a state-of-the-art ecological hopper and conveyor belt has been put into operation. This initiative represents a further step in PortCastelló’s strategy to consolidate itself as a cleaner, safer port that is more respectful of its environment thanks to the proper handling of solid bulk goods. “We have demonstrated that growth and sustainability can go hand in hand. This new facility reinforces our policy of safety and environmental respect, guaranteeing that the port of Castellón continues to be the best ally of the environment,” stated the president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez.
The investment, which amounted to 1.2 million euros, is part of the environmental strategy that the company TMG has been developing for years. The new ecological hopper has a capacity of 110 cubic meters and is equipped with an advanced truck unloading system via hydraulic opening and closing mouths. According to the company’s partners Antonio Gómez de la Torre, Jaime Veral and Gregorio González, the goal “is to continue increasing material means with a second hopper and a second conveyor belt with the same characteristics,” they commented.
The president of the Port Authority of Castellón stated that with this addition “Terminal Marítima Grao takes a decisive step towards a more sustainable future, positioning itself at the technological forefront of the logistics-port sector in the handling of solid bulk goods,” explained Rubén Ibáñez. The commissioning of the hopper and the conveyor belt is part of the twenty-plus measures deployed by PortCastelló, among which windbreak screens, truck wheel washers to prevent the dragging of particles, and a code of good practices in solid bulk operations stand out.
