With 53 ships and over 116 thousand passengers, the Tuscan port confirms its place among the most dynamic in the Mediterranean
Livorno – October is recording record numbers for the port of Livorno, which is consolidating its role as a cruise hub in the Mediterranean. According to data released by the Port Authority, the month saw 53 cruise ship calls, five more than in September, and 116,931 passengers, compared to 114,601 the previous month.
The traffic peak occurred on October 5, with five ships docked on the same day and approximately 9,700 cruise passengers in transit. Among the main companies present are Norwegian Cruise Line (9 arrivals), Viking (8) and Msc Crociere (6), the latter showing a slight decrease compared to previous months.
Most of the units — 42 out of 53 — made daily calls, while 11 ships stayed in port overnight, marking a significant increase compared to the 7 in 2024. The peak concentration times were between 6:30 and 8:00 in the morning, with evening departures between 19:00 and 21:00.
The month began with the arrival of the Norwegian Breakaway, one of the largest ships in service, capable of hosting almost 4,000 passengers, and will end with the Voyager of the Seas from Royal Caribbean, expected on October 31 with 3,138 cruise passengers on board.
Compared to last year, Livorno shows a clear growth: 41 ships and 107 thousand passengers in October 2024, against the 53 units and almost 117 thousand visitors of 2025. A 29% increase in ship calls and about 9,000 more passengers.
These results confirm the positive trend of Tuscan cruise tourism and the role of the port of Livorno as a strategic stop for major international operators, thanks to its location, efficient connections, and growing capacity for hospitality.
