With an investment of approximately USD 45 thousand and as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), the Administration of Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (Apram), supervised by the Regional Secretariat for Economy, is in the final phase of launching a new dock reservation management platform for cruise ship calls.

This fully digital solution brings benefits in terms of efficiency, transparency, communication, and data security for both Apram and shipping agents, who will now have a single channel for requesting cruise dock reservations.

“With this new tool, Apram aims to streamline a process that until now was managed manually and on paper. Transparency will be one of the main advantages. Every step of the dock reservation process will now be traceable and auditable, from the initial request to the final decision,” explained Paula Cabaço, President of the Board of Directors of Ports of Madeira.

The system was launched during the 11th Congress of Agepor (Portuguese Association of Maritime Agents) held in Almancil.

During the high season, Ports of Madeira often receive more berth reservation requests than available spaces. This platform will improve transparency and communication with cruise companies. “We do not like nor want to reject reservations, but sometimes we must do so due to a lack of space. This system will help us communicate more effectively with the cruise companies,” stated Cabaço.
