The solution to the problem of bradyseism, the consequent rise of some docks, and the related difficulty of disembarkation operations from ferries operating in the port of Pozzuoli, might be just around the corner.
By summoning pilots, mooring personnel, and the shipping companies Medmar, Gestour, Traspermar, and Caremar (the same ones that have been complaining for months about the issues related to the seismic phenomenon), the Commander of the Pozzuoli Maritime District Office, Edoardo Russo, has called a meeting with the “subject being the use of the floating pontoon named ‘Campania,’ registered in the Brindisi Register of Minor and Floating Vessels under No. 3838, including the reconfiguration of overnight stays at the Port of Pozzuoli.”
The vessel, owned by the shipbuilding company Piloda Shipyard, active between Brindisi and Naples, is expected to be used to compensate for the imbalances caused by tectonic movements. The meeting will provide shipping companies and technical-nautical service operators with the guidelines for its effective use, made necessary to prevent the Phlegraean port from becoming unusable for connections to Ischia and Procida.
