Pronav, part of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), has for the first time assumed technical management of a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), according to the company’s release.
The Hamburg-based unit specialises in the management of large-scale LNG carriers.
The vessel, the 2019-built ‘Turquoise P’, is owned by Pardus Energy Ltd. and is stationed at the Etki Liman LNG terminal in the Turkish Aegean Sea, near Izmir. It has a length of 294 metres and a cargo capacity of 170,000 cubic metres.
“This is a milestone for Pronav and the entire Schulte Group. We are proud that our many years of expertise in ship management of LNG carriers and our flawless safety record have enabled us to take on the technical management of ‘Turquoise P’,” said Martin Roolvink, Managing Director of Pronav. He added that the LNG segment is subject to the most demanding industry requirements and requires the highest safety and quality standards.
According to the company, there are just over 50 FSRUs in operation worldwide, with only a few managed by third-party ship managers.
The Etki Liman LNG terminal is connected to Türkiye’s national gas grid and plays a role in supplying energy to the Izmir region, particularly during periods of peak demand or seasonal fluctuations.
Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) is an integrated maritime services provider that manages a fleet of over 670 vessels. It operates through 10 ship management centres, 28 crew service centres, and six maritime training centres worldwide. The company employs around 40,000 seafarers and 2,000 shore-based staff. BSM is part of the Schulte Group, a shipping business with more than 140 years of history.
Pronav is a specialised ship management centre within BSM, based in Hamburg. It focuses exclusively on managing large-scale LNG carriers and has experience across different LNG propulsion technologies, including dual-fuel engines, diesel propulsion, and conventional steam systems.
