The governor of Salta, Gustavo Sáenz, signed an agreement with the head of the Dirección de Vialidad de Argentina, Marcelo Jorge Campoy, whereby the Province will finance part of the work on national route 51 between Mina La Poma – Alto Chorillos, section II of the San Antonio de los Cobres – Cauchari segment. This route is vital for the Bioceanic Corridor.
“I formalized the decision to invest provincial resources in the paving of a route essential for Salta and Northern Argentina. With our financial assistance, this often-announced project can be realized,” highlighted the governor.
RN 51, in its extension from San Antonio de los Cobres to the Sico pass, represents a key link for the Bioceanic Corridor, facilitating the connection with international markets through Chilean ports.
Sáenz emphasized the relevance of this route not only for production but also for strengthening regional integration and progress. “The paving of national route 51 is key for the Northern Bioceanic Corridor. Therefore, despite the halt in public works with national funds, we continue managing investments so that the paving from San Antonio de los Cobres to the Paso de Sico becomes a reality for Salta and the region. The dream of an outlet to the Pacific is beginning to come true,” he added.
“Together, we will create better conditions for the development of this north that is beginning to awaken. The outlet to the Pacific and the Corridor are necessary tools to project Salta and the region onto the world,” highlighted the governor, while affirming “I celebrate this agreement. The integration that ensures our development is paramount. We continue working for Salta and for the people of Salta.”
It should be remembered that the financing for the work on the first segment is the responsibility of the Province, through Fonplata, the Development Bank that promotes the integration of member countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay) through credit operations and non-reimbursable resources.
