As Royal Caribbean nears a month of sailing its newest cruise ship, Star of the Seas, from Port Canaveral, the company is also celebrating construction milestones on its next two Icon-class ships.
Legend of the Seas, the third massive vessel in the Icon series, touched water for the first time earlier this month during a float-out at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. Meanwhile, Royal Caribbean marked the beginning of construction on its fourth Icon-class ship with a keel laying ceremony in the dry dock just behind Legend of the Seas.
Set to sail out of Fort Lauderdale in fall 2026, Legend of the Seas is a sister ship to both Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. While many of the core amenities and activities are the same, including the Category 6 waterpark, the new Icon-class vessel will have distinct entertainment, new dining options and fresh artwork.
Following a slate of Mediterranean itineraries in summer 2026, Legend will set sail for Florida next November to alternate between six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean itineraries.
The yet-to-be-named fourth Icon-class ship will take shape over the next two years and is set to debut in 2027. While the ship will closely resemble its predecessors in the Icon class, the vessel will feature some upgrades and new amenities.
“You’re going to see us continue to evolve the class,” said Jay Schneider, Royal Caribbean’s chief product innovation officer, during a media sailing on Star of the Seas. Exact details of the fourth Icon-class ship have yet to be revealed.
