Crane operatorss at container terminals in Chile can improve their skills using an advanced simulator in one of the nation’s container terminals
SAAM Terminals has opened Chile’s most advanced simulator to train crane operators at the San Vicente Terminal Internacional (SVTI) in Concepción, in the Biobío region, using virtual reality and computer modelling, with plans to use it at other SAAM terminals.
SAAM Terminals chief executive Mauricio Carrasco said this simulator will improve safety and efficiency, and optimise crane operators’ decision making.
“Our people move containers in our terminals day in and day out, and we want them to do it well,” he said. “This simulator is a state-of-the-art system. Given its mobile structure, we can train workers at SVTI, our first location, and at other of our terminals in Chile.
