Safeen, the marine arm of AD Ports Group, has announced the acquisition of Semaih, a RAmparts 2200 type ASD harbour tug, built by Sanmar of Turkey, to expand and strengthen its towage service capabilities in the UAE.

Powered by a Caterpillar 3512C, Tier II C-class main engine, achieving a bollard pull of 50 tons ahead and 45 tons astern, the new vessel is the latest addition to the company’s fast growing 20-strong tugboat fleet.

Semaihis expected to greatly enhance Safeen’s ability to meet evolving trade demand at local ports and requests for chartering services, as well as address the increasing complexity of logistical operations across the region.

The new tug is currently under construction at one of the tugboat manufacturer’s shipyards in Turkey. It will be delivered to Safeen by the end of March by a Sanmar delivery crew.
