The heavy lift ship Zhen Hua 35 has set sail from the port of Shanghai, China, heading for the Mediterranean, carrying some port cranes destined for the ports of Marghera and Genoa in Italy.

These are nine new 100% electric e-RTG yard cranes built by Zpmc, for which the securing and welding operations on board the general cargo ship that will transport them to Europe were finalized in recent days.

Psa announces that for three of these, the arrival in Venice is estimated for the end of the year, after a journey of over two months with intermediate stops in Morocco (at Tangier Med) and Genoa. In the Ligurian capital, six machines destined to enter service at the beginning of 2026 will be unloaded between the end of November and the beginning of December.

“The cranes have been designed and built according to Psa standards and customized for the specific needs of the Psa Venice – Vecon terminal, representing a concrete step towards more efficient, innovative, and green yard management,” reads a post from the terminal. “The 3 e-RTGs, in fact, 100% electric, will replace the current diesel units, significantly contributing to: increasing yard capacity, improving operational performance and the related container release management times, reducing emissions, and improving environmental sustainability.”

This investment represents for Psa Venice – Vecon the culmination of the first phase of development planned after the 2023 concession renewal, and confirms our commitment to a greener, digital, and high-performance future in the port sector.
