Salvini appoints the first three port presidents

Must read

Minister Salvini had promised it. That if the Senate had not resolved the issue of the appointments of the 11 port presidents within a reasonable time, he would have proceeded by decree to appoint them one by one without waiting for the parliamentary process.

No sooner said than done. The latest postponement in the Senate Transport Committee (which had scheduled the vote on the presidents for Tuesday and then for Wednesday, only to then postpone everything to a date to be determined) pushed the head of the Ministry at Piazza Porta Pia to act and appoint the first three presidents.

They are Francesco Mastro for the AdSP of the Southern Adriatic Sea (Bari), Francesco Rizzo for the AdSP of the Strait (Messina) and Bruno Pisano for the AdSP of the Eastern Ligurian Sea (La Spezia).

At a recent event in Rome, Salvini had raised the problem, pointing out how the appointments of several presidents were stuck in the Senate Committee: “We have been stuck for months due to the political choice of one of the majority parties,” he declared, pointing the finger at Forza Italia.

After appointing the first three presidents, Salvini expressed his intention to proceed next week with another three appointments, unless the Senate Committee decides to unblock the impasse and proceed with the votes.
