At 10:18 AM on September 25, 2025, a groundbreaking ceremony for a 14,000 DWT multi-purpose vessel built by Sanfu Shipbuilding for a German shipowner was held in the steel processing workshop. Representatives from the shipowner, DNV classification society, and Sanfu Shipbuilding attended the ceremony.
The vessel has an overall length of 159.75 meters, a breadth of 22.80 meters, a depth of 11.55 meters, and a scantling draft of 8.30 meters, with a speed of approximately 15.5 knots, and is classed by DNV. The ship is equipped with two 350-ton cranes, with a combined lifting capacity of up to 700 tons. The design features two cargo holds, with the larger hold having a total length of 89.25 meters and equipped with three levels of tween decks. It offers strong cargo adaptability and can efficiently transport oversized and heavy-lift cargo such as wind power equipment.
This series of 14,000 DWT multi-purpose vessels was jointly designed and developed by Sanfu Shipbuilding and the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute. Based on the originally mature 12,500 DWT multi-purpose vessel design, it has undergone comprehensive optimization and upgrades, achieving significant improvements in cargo capacity, lifting performance, fuel economy, overall vessel efficiency, and intelligentization level. This commencement marks another important breakthrough for Sanfu Shipbuilding in the field of multi-purpose vessel construction, further demonstrating its technical competitiveness in the global multi-purpose vessel market.
