Must read

After the steel-cutting ceremony in February, attended by the Croatian Prime Minister, Andrej Plenkovic, and the keel-laying in May, Scenic unveiled the name of its future ship, Scenic Ikon, a Discovery Yacht that is still scheduled for delivery at the end of 2027, before final tests and entry into service.

At 26,500 gross tons, 205 meters in length and 24 in beam, it will have capacity for 270 passengers in 135 terrace suites, ranging from 34 to 250 square meters, distributed over five decks.

The Scenic Discovery Yacht will be built specifically to excel in both polar regions and warm-water destinations. Expertly designed and with Polar Code 6 certification, with a super-reinforced Ice Class 1A hull, it will be exceptionally versatile.

Offering the ultimate in discovery, the Scenic Ikon is equipped with two Airbus helicopters, a custom-designed Triton AVA submersible, Zodiacs, and luxurious Fassmer support vessels for superyachts.

Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of Scenic Group, stated that “the Scenic Ikon has been conceived, designed and built by our shipbuilding division at MKM Yachts and will be operated entirely by our dedicated Scenic crew. This extraordinary vessel is the result of more than three years of passion, innovation and development by our team, and we are pleased to share the Discovery Yacht with our valued guests, travel agents and partners.”

Scenic Group unveiled part of the anticipated inaugural season of the Scenic Ikon, which will extend until March 2029, will cover 110 ports, 21 countries and 26 new destinations, including the Mediterranean, the Aegean Sea and Egypt, the Cape Verde islands, Dakar, Antarctica, the Falkland Islands and the Chilean fjords. The new addition will embark on its inaugural voyage from Venice in April 2028.

“Every element of the Scenic Ikon’s design has been optimized to deliver unparalleled experiences in diverse destinations and environments, from its main base, the Mediterranean, to the vastness of Antarctica,” said Glen Moroney, founder and chairman of Scenic Group.
