The shipping company Seaboard Marine announced that it will implement a peak season surcharge on all cargo moving northbound, between the ports on the west coast of South America and those in the United States, Canada, and other maritime terminals outside US territory.
According to the shipping company, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru are among the origins considered for the rate, which will be effective from next November 2, 2025. The company also detailed that the increase will apply to all contract values and rates.
Specifically, the increase will be USD 300 for 20-foot containers, while a charge of USD 600 will be applied to 40-foot units. Meanwhile, 40-foot reefer pieces will have a surcharge of USD 1,500.
