The recoverable reserves ofthe field exceed 320 billion cubic meters ofgas
The Semakovskoye gas field was launched inthe Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area on 6 December 2022, according to Gazprom. The recoverable reserves ofthe Semakovskoye field are more than 320 billion cubic meters ofgas.
The new major gas production facility was created byGazprom and RusGazDobycha inthe extremely challenging conditions ofthe Far North and ataconsiderable distance from the existing infrastructure. Aspart ofthe first phase ofthe Semakovskoye field pre-development, the following facilities and systems were built: aproduction well stock (consisting of19wells), acomprehensive gas treatment unit (CGTU) with anannual capacity of7.5 billion cubic meters, and agas pipeline stretching for 122 kilometers from the field tothe Unified Gas Supply System ofRussia.
Most ofthe Semakovskoye field’s reserves lie inthe waters ofTaz Bay ofthe Kara Sea. Therefore, the option ofbuilding asystem ofextended-reach wells (ERD wells) was chosen for the field development. This ensured the possibility ofaccess tothe reserves from the shore and eliminated the need for the construction ofexpensive offshore infrastructure.
Semakovskoye has become the first-ever offshore gas field inthe history ofRussia’s gas sector tobedeveloped with the use ofsuch wells.
During the works, arecord was set for the drilling ofextended-reach wells. According tointernational classification, well No.1104has anERD (Extended Reach Drilling) ratio of4.48, which isthe maximum result recorded for Cenomanian deposits inthe territory ofRussia.
The newly created wells feature some technological innovations, for instance, intelligent systems are employed tomonitor the parameters ofwells being operated and hydrocarbons being produced.
During the next stage ofpre-development, the annual gas production ofthe Semakovskoye field will bebrought toits design level of14.2 billion cubic meters.
“With the launch ofthe Semakovskoye field, welay asolid technological groundwork for the development ofanew production cluster inthe region. This includes the group ofParusovoye fields which are under the responsibility ofRusGazAlyans, aswell asanumber ofother fields,”saidAlexey Miller, Chairman ofthe Gazprom Management Committee.
“The Semakovskoye gas field isthe first production project for the RusGazDobycha Group. The Semakovskoye field isour first joint project with Gazprom. Currently, our companies are also jointly building the Complex for processing ethane-containing gas inthe Baltic area and performing the works atthe huge Tambey cluster. For RusGazDobycha, the launch ofthe Semakovskoye field isthe start ofthe company’s own hydrocarbon production history,”said Konstantin Makhov, Chief Executive Officer ofRusGazDobycha.
RusGazAlyans isajoint venture ofthe Gazprom Group (via Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg, awholly-owned subsidiary ofGazprom) and RusGazDobycha. RusGazAlyans was established inApril 2017 with the purpose ofdeveloping the Parusovoye, Severo-Parusovoye and Semakovskoye fields located inthe Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area ofthe Russian Federation.
