The booming business momentum has driven the cumulative vehicle exports at Shenshan Xiaomo Port in October to approach 17,000 units, setting a new historical record for monthly exports since the port commenced operations.
On October 31, Shenshan Xiaomo International Logistics Port was a scene of bustling activity. Following the /roll-off vessel “Primrose” successfully loading over a thousand new energy vehicles and departing the port, the ro-ro vessel “Melbourne Prosperity” completed loading more than 3,000 new energy vehicles and subsequently embarked on its maiden voyage to Thailand.
Xiaomo Port’s cumulative exports in October neared 17,000 vehicles, representing a substantial year-on-year increase of over 170% and a sharp month-on-month surge of 183%, setting a new historical high for single-month exports since the port opened. This landmark figure is attributed to Xiaomo Port’s natural geographical advantage as a key deep-water port on the eastern wing of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as its efficient “front port, rear factory” linkage model formed with leading automotive manufacturers in the vicinity, providing the port with stable and substantial core cargo sources.
To closely align with Shenshan’s development goal of building a core bearing area for Shenzhen’s new generation of world-class automotive city, on January 8, 2025, the main phase two project of Xiaomo Port commenced construction. This involves building two new 70,000-ton multi-purpose berths and functionally adjusting some shoreline sections of the already completed phase one project. Upon completion and operation, the port will be capable of simultaneously accommodating two 9,200-CEUs (car equivalent units) ro-ro ships for loading and unloading operations, equipping Xiaomo Port with an annual vehicle transportation capacity of 1 million units.
In the future, Xiaomo Port will continue to enhance its port facility functions, intensify efforts to expand domestic and international ro-ro cargo sources, densify its ro-ro shipping route network radiating across the nation and reaching globally, provide comprehensive, high-quality logistics support for vehicle exports, and fully strive towards its goal of becoming a hub port for foreign trade automotive ro-ro in South China.
