Must read

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and Doosan Enerbility have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in the offshore wind market in Korea

The MoU covers potential collaboration between the companies on several fronts, including working together on large-scale offshore wind turbines, sharing major services including construction of new Korean production facilities, supply of wind turbine parts, offshore wind turbine installation and turbine maintenance, among others.

The MoU will also see the companies investigate potential products and services optimized for the Korean offshore wind market. It will explore a Korean domestic supply chain and related industries and study potential job creation and industrialization in the Korean offshore wind power market.

Siemens Gamesa offshore chief executive Marc Becker said, “We are delighted to start to work with Doosan Enerbility to investigate strategic cooperation in Korea. Leading the offshore revolution in the years to come requires strong partnerships, based on solid, mutual commitments. We envision an excellent alliance between our two companies, fostering the development of the Korean offshore wind industry and contributing to its expansion.”

Doosan Enerbility executive vice president Seungwoo Sohn said, “Combining Siemens Gamesa’s global business expertise with our technological capabilities we will be able to rapidly enhance our competitiveness in the offshore wind business. Cooperation will also contribute to the revitalization of the offshore wind ecosystem in Korea.”

Doosan Enerbility is the only manufacturer in Korea that has a supply record in the domestic offshore wind market, including the 30-MW Tamra offshore wind project and 60-MW Southwest offshore wind Phase 1 project.
