Fuzhou, Aug. 20 (Zheng Jiangluo) Wu Yuanxiang, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Fujian High Court, disclosed at a press conference on typical cases of maritime trials in Fujian courts on the 20th that since 2023, the two-level courts handling maritime trials in Fujian have accepted 7,045 various maritime and commercial cases, concluded 6,184 cases, involved amounts of 11.953 billion yuan, detained 102 ships, auctioned and sold 157 ships, with cases involving more than 40 countries and regions.

In recent years, Fujian courts have actively leveraged the functions of maritime trials, deepened the strategy of producing high-quality maritime judgments, innovated maritime trial working mechanisms, strengthened diversified resolution of maritime disputes, and promoted new achievements in maritime trial work.

Wu Yuanxiang stated that Fujian courts have innovatively explored pioneering measures for maritime trials involving Taiwan, actively integrated into the construction of the Haixi Central Legal Services District, fully demonstrated Fujian’s advantages in “Taiwan” and “maritime” affairs, and helped build a preferred location for resolving international commercial and maritime disputes.

According to reports, Fujian courts have explored effective approaches for service of process involving Taiwan, ship detention, and ascertainment of regulations from the Taiwan region of China, optimized judicial services for Taiwan-related matters, and improved the quality and efficiency of Taiwan-related trials; they pioneered a mechanism specifically for ascertaining relevant regulations from the Taiwan region of China, issued guidelines for the platform for ascertaining relevant regulations from the Taiwan region of China, etc., to enhance the accuracy and convenience of legal ascertainment; they launched the nation’s first judicial service website for Taiwan-related affairs, issued the nation’s first white paper on Taiwan-related maritime trials, and continuously extended judicial services for Taiwan-related trials.

In addition, Fujian courts have actively integrated into the construction of the Haixi Central Legal Services District, issued opinions on serving and safeguarding the construction of the core area of the Maritime Silk Road, opinions on integrating into the construction of the Haixi Central Legal Services District, etc., released relevant work guidelines and typical cases, legally served and safeguarded the construction of a strong maritime economy province, and promoted the development of the maritime economy and maritime cooperation.
