SPG independently develops A-TOS intelligent control system

Shandong Port Group (SPG) held a launching ceremony forthe A-TOSintelligent control system that is applied infully automated container terminalsas well as anachievement promotion strategic cooperation agreement signing ceremonyon Sept 27. Xinhua News Agency unveiled the A-TOSintelligent control system, which was independently developed by a group of engineers on theLiangang Innovation Teamthat is basedin Beijing and Qingdao. Theproject has reached world leading level, according to the evaluation of the China Institute of Navigation, which indicatesthat SPG has again raised the barfor Chinese ports’ sci-tech self-reliance and self-strengthening.

In response to the digital, networked and intelligentdevelopment trend in the global port and shipping sector, the team focused on service upgrading and efficiency improvement and was guided by specific production demandsto independently develop a new cutting-edge technology designed for ports –the “cloud native+” A-TOS intelligent control system. The system utilizescloud native+and other technologies to develop an intelligent control system that integrates planning and control, which enables port operationsto run more smoothly, accuratelyand intelligently.

SPG continues to focus onenhancingtheservice experience for customers through independent sci-tech innovation, which has been unanimously endorsed by its customers. Mr. Kim Jungkyum, general manager of the Qingdao Branch of Hanxin Shipping (Shanghai) Co Ltd, said that the launch of this new system presents a huge benefitfor carriers, as it can make data transmission more convenient and accurately provide loading and unloading information and customized schedule services in real time. It can also steadily enhance vessel handling efficiency, ease the negative effectsthat COVID-19 has on vessel scheduling, and help cut rental costs.

Going forward, SPG plans to implementnational strategies of “building China into a leader in science and technology”, “building China into a strong maritime country” and “building China into a country with a strong transportation network”. Meanwhile, it worksto be a leaderin areas including port production, port management, scientific and technological innovation, and new energy technology application. All of these aspects are expected tocontribute to its goal of becoming a world-class sea port.
