Staff Changes And Promotions At Bertling Logistics’ Technical Department

Bertling Logistics (BL) has appointed Urs Schaerer as Global Technical Director, Kara Murphy to Group Health and Safety Director, and Chris Wightman to Logistics Group Engineering Director. The company also shipped a heavy steam boiler package from Italy to Turkey.

Following the retirement of Mike Hetherington, Urs Schaerer will join the BL Logistics Group Technical Director, working from Dubai. Schaerer began his career as an engineer, and has since had an international career in heavy transport engineering. He has also worked on developing innovative technologies for the logistics industry, including apps.

Kara Murphy has been internally promoted to Group Health and Safety Director for Bertling Logistics, having joined the company in 2015. She is a Nebosh-qualified QHSE professional, and member of IOSH. She is described as having a solution-oriented approach.Lastly, Chris Wightman was promoted to Logistics Group Engineering Director. After obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering degree from The University of Sunderland, he worked for Mammoet, before joining BL in 2010.

Alongside these internal changes, BL’s operations have continued seamlessly. On Friday, BL successfully shipped a heavy steam boiler package of pressure parts for a petrochemical project, from Maghera, Italy to Mersin Port in Turkey. The two heaviest pieces were the convective modules weighing 60 tonnes each, and measuring 10.30 by 3.96 by 4.53 metres. The cargo was shipped aboard the AMUR 2507 general cargo ship, measuring 115 metres in length and 13 metres in width, with a gross tonnage of 3086.
