Grounding alert May 27 1600 UTC: MT CHEM HYDRA, IMO 9486180, St-Lawrence Montreal Sainte-Catherine, aground since around 0500 UTC May 27.
May 28 UPDATE: Tnaker was refloated at around 2300 UTC May 27, berthed near Sainte-Catherine Lock, later transited the Lock and was berthed at Sainte-Catherine at around 2300 UTC, remained in the same position as of 0820 UTC May 28. Tanker loaded with chemicals is en route from Point Lisas, Trinidad and Tobago, to Hamilton, Lake Ontario. She grounded onto soft bottom and reportedly, didn’t suffer hull breach, or oil spill. Engine failure is said to be the cause of grounding.
