TechnipFMC clinched an additional contract and received notice to proceed by ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Ltd for its Yellowtail development in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana
The initial contract, described by TechnipFMC as ‘large’, a figure between US$500-US$1Bn, was announced in November 2021. The company has been given full notice to proceed with the previously announced contract for the subsea production system, following ExxonMobil’s final investment decision in April.
The newly announced contract was described as ‘significant’, a sum defined as being between US$75-US$250M, and covers six risers which are qualified for high pressure and high temperature.
TechnipFMC will provide project management, engineering, manufacturing and testing capabilities for the subsea production system, which includes 51 enhanced vertical deepwater trees and associated tooling, 12 manifolds, associated controls and tie-in equipment.
TechnipFMC said it currently employs 70 Guyanese nationals, and expects to continue to hire and train additional local staff in support of these awards.
TechnipFMC president, subsea Jonathan Landes commented, “We are thrilled that our partnership with the Stabroek Block operator continues to grow. We have an established presence in Guyana to accommodate the level of activity there and we’re committed to further developing local capabilities.”
Part of the Stabroek block, the Yellowtail development is a deepwater pretroleum production project in Guyana. Production is set to commence by 2025. Production from the Stabroek block is already underway via the FPSO Liza Destiny.
