The Andalusian government has approved an exceptional subsidy to the Port Authority of AlmerÃa (APA) aimed at interventions on the coastal front in port-city spaces. With this grant, the urbanization of the Almadrabillas area, the Levante dock, and the pedestrian bridge at the end of the Rambla will be made possible, totaling more than four hectares, with a budget close to 24.2 million euros. “The Port Authority of AlmerÃa positively values the budgetary effort of the Junta de AndalucÃa and Juanma Moreno’s commitment to the port-city project, which would be absolutely unviable without the funding from the Andalusian government,” acknowledged the president of AlmerÃa, Rosario Soto.
The purpose of the subsidy is the execution of the urbanization works defined in said project to create an inclusive, sustainable, pedestrian-friendly civic space with green areas that promotes leisure, commerce, culture, and sports on the Levante dock and in the area called Almadrabillas and its maritime front. In parallel, the APA is undertaking the adaptation and reorganization of the pre-boarding area on the Muelle Ribera I esplanade, adjacent to the entrance of the Levante dock. These spaces, in which the Port Authority of AlmerÃa is investing around 9 million euros, also include the enhancement of historical port heritage that citizens will be able to enjoy, such as: the tinglado, an early 20th-century facility that served as a commercial enclave for goods storage, which will provide shade to this area and will also be allocated for port-city use.
