The Alianza Net-Zero Mar association held the 3rd edition of its annual congress in Cádiz, which brought together nearly 200 participants and highlighted the role of the Spanish maritime-port sector as an engine of innovation and sustainability. The first day included a visit to Navantia, where its future strategic plans and its fundamental role in the industrialization of the Bay of Cádiz were presented. The innovative Endesa project for the electrical supply to ships (OPS) on cruises was also presented, an initiative that demonstrates that this technology is already a reality in Spain.
The second day focused on technical content in the morning while in the afternoon, the attention centered on the decarbonization of port terminals with a panel on energy efficiency and digitalization. It was emphasized that digitalization is not an end in itself, but an essential tool for solving specific problems, attracting talent, and improving interoperability. For its part, the final day focused on the international and European regulatory framework with a presentation by Miguel Núñez that helped to understand the upcoming regulatory steps in maritime decarbonization. The last two topics addressed were future scenarios for electricity and clean fuels and a session on green corridors as a key element in the decarbonization of maritime transport.
