According to reports, on the local time of September 2, off the coast of Zonguldak in northern Turkey, a luxury yacht unexpectedly sank shortly after its launch on the day of its delivery.

Video footage from the scene shows the luxury yacht, named Dolce Vento, being pushed by large machinery onto a launch ramp before slowly sliding into the sea.

Unexpectedly, just minutes after entering the water, the yacht began to tilt and eventually capsized on the sea surface. Ultimately, the yacht sank into the sea 15 minutes after its launch.

It is understood that the yacht, named Dolce Vento, is approximately 85 feet long. It was built over five months by the Med Yilmaz shipyard at a cost of about $940,000. It had just been delivered from Istanbul to its owner. Currently, the coast guard and port teams have set up a safety perimeter around the wreck area.

After the yacht capsized, the people on board immediately jumped into the water and swam to the shore to escape. The owner and the captain also jumped into the sea to survive.

Fortunately, no one was injured. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

This incident has also attracted attention from netizens. Professionals in the shipbuilding field analyzed that the sinking was most likely due to the yacht’s bow being too heavy, causing an imbalance in the center of gravity, which is likely one of the reasons for the sinking.

Additionally, factors such as waterproofing issues and incomplete assembly could also lead to the vessel capsizing.

Professionals in the shipbuilding field emphasized that a small error during the manufacturing process itself may not cause a sinking, but when different factors combine, the consequences can be very serious.

Officials from the Med Yilmaz shipyard stated that the cause of the sinking is under investigation, and a detailed technical inspection of the sunken vessel will follow.

Shipwreck Escape 1 – Initial Measures

When a boat encounters collisions with reefs, floating logs, or other vessels, although it may cause hull damage, the boat may not sink immediately, or might not sink at all. At this critical moment, quickly put on a life jacket and send a distress signal. You can use a mobile phone, flare, or burning clothing to attract attention.

Shipwreck Escape 2 – Abandoning Ship Process

Before deciding to abandon ship, priority should be given to women and children on board. Once the decision to abandon ship is made, ensure you board life rafts or other lifesaving equipment in an orderly manner under the guidance of the crew, and follow instructions to leave the accident vessel safely. Furthermore, when wearing a life jacket, tie two knots like shoelaces to ensure security.

Shipwreck Escape 3 – Jumping Techniques

If you cannot board a life raft in time or if there are not enough life rafts, and you have to jump into the water, jump against the wind to avoid being hit by drifting debris. While jumping, cross your arms over your chest to hold down the life jacket, and cover your mouth and nose with your hands to prevent inhaling water upon impact. Keep your eyes looking straight ahead, legs together and straight, entering the water feet first. Avoid looking down to prevent pitching forward and falling into the water, which could cause injury. If the jump is performed correctly and you take a deep breath, the life jacket will bring you to the surface within seconds. If the life jacket is equipped with a spray hood, untie it and put it on your head.
