It was learned from the Tianjin Port Group that recently, the Tianjin Port Emerging Building Materials Terminal, on the basis of being officially approved for opening to the outside world, successfully passed the acceptance inspection for the customs supervision site. This marks that the Gaoshaling Port Area has acquired the basic conditions for loading and unloading operations of foreign trade vessels, adding new momentum for Tianjin Port to build an “upgraded version” of a world-class smart and green hub port.
The Tianjin Port Emerging Building Materials Terminal is located at the southeastern end of the Gaoshaling Port Area in the central Tianjin Port area. It has constructed three 70,000-ton-class general-purpose berths with a total shoreline length of 784 meters. It is also equipped with approximately 370,000 square meters of storage yards and a 5,800 square meter Class C warehouse. The annual designed throughput capacity is 6 million tons, and it will primarily engage in the import and export loading and unloading business for breakbulk cargo.
“After long-term accumulation and development at Tianjin Port, breakbulk cargo is increasingly favored by hinterland customers and shipping companies, gradually forming a hub and aggregation effect. Previously, the volume of breakbulk cargo business at Tianjin Port kept increasing, and the handling capacity was nearing saturation. For this reason, starting in January this year, the Gaoshaling Port Area in the central port area launched an ‘upgrade action’. We added inspection cameras, a customs video management system, and other facilities at the terminal, upgrading the three berths from originally handling only domestic trade to general-purpose berths for both domestic and foreign trade,” said He Rongjun, Deputy General Manager of Tianjin Port Emerging Building Materials Terminal Co., Ltd. “Currently, the terminal has fully obtained the qualification for foreign trade operations and can officially commence loading and unloading services for international port trade.”
The Gaoshaling Port Area is an important strategic reserve resource for Tianjin Port’s southward development. The successful opening of the Tianjin Port Emerging Building Materials Terminal to the outside world and its capability for foreign trade vessel operations will further unleash the operational potential of the Gaoshaling Port Area for breakbulk cargo vessels, optimize Tianjin Port’s foreign trade production layout, and provide more convenient, efficient logistics channels and infrastructure support for import and export goods.
