August 13, 2026 [Tank News International]- Topsoe, a global provider of technology and solutions for the energy transition, has signed an agreement with First Ammonia to supply its dynamic ammonia synthesis technology for the company’s green ammonia production facility in Victoria, Texas.
The project represents another step toward commercial-scale green ammonia production in the United States. The facility will use green hydrogen produced through electrolysis powered by renewable electricity and is designed to supply green ammonia to both US and international markets.
Financial close for the project is expected later in 2026, with commercial operations targeted to begin in 2029.
First Ammonia CEO Joel H. Moser said the company was pleased to continue its partnership with Topsoe, citing the technology provider’s expertise in ammonia synthesis and the companies’ shared objective of establishing a green ammonia industry in the US and internationally.
Topsoe Chief Commercial Officer Yassir Ghiyati said operational flexibility is becoming increasingly important as green ammonia projects advance toward execution. He said Topsoe’s technology is designed to support efficient and reliable production and that the company would continue working with First Ammonia to advance the Texas project.
Under the agreement, Topsoe will provide dynamic ammonia synthesis technology developed specifically for green ammonia facilities. The technology allows production to ramp from 10 percent to 100 percent capacity, or reduce output at a similar rate, within 30 minutes. This capability enables the ammonia synthesis loop to respond to fluctuations in renewable power generation while maintaining safe, reliable and efficient operations.
