The Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, has authorized the signing of the agreement between the City Council of A Coruña, the Xunta de Galicia, Adif, Puertos del Estado and the Port Authority of A Coruña for the joint financing of the preparation of the Master Plan that will develop the Coruña Marítima project. The agreement establishes that the budget of 3,315,000 euros for its preparation and its technical assistance will be financed by two thirds by the General State Administration: Puertos del Estado, the AP A Coruña and Adif will contribute 736,666 euros each. The Xunta de Galicia and the City Council of A Coruña will contribute 552,500 euros each.
The administrations collaborating in this project have committed to developing accessibility and citizen uses in the new spaces, while maintaining compatibility with the port activities that remain. The document will cover the entire scope of the inner port, from the breakwater to the Oza dock, and the San Diego freight station, following the agreements approved by the Coruña Marítima commission and the conclusions of the citizen participation process.
The creation of extensive public use areas and green zones, spaces for residential and service uses is planned, prioritizing innovation and sustainability in the design, but contributing to preserving the identity and port character. The Master Plan for Coruña Marítima has been put out to public tender and is expected to be resolved at the beginning of the autumn of 2026. The successful bidder must present the project that will transform the maritime front of A Coruña by mid-2027.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Government of Spain continues to consider the development of the Port of A Coruña a priority and, recently, the green light has also been given to another agreement to improve the sanitation network of the outer port of Punta Langosteira.
