The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has awarded the works for the control, command, and signaling installations of the new southern railway access to the Port of Castelló for 12 million euros. The contract includes actions in the signaling installations, train protection systems, fixed and mobile telecommunications, video surveillance and access control devices, operational telephony transmission, inclusion in the centralized traffic control of València-La Font de Sant Lluís, remote control of auxiliary systems, power supply, and civil works.
With a total planned investment of 335.5 million euros, this link for the exclusive use of freight will allow trains of up to 750 meters to enter the port area (south dock), connecting the Port of Castelló with the Mediterranean Corridor and boosting intermodal freight traffic and, with it, more efficient, competitive, and sustainable mobility. The execution of the construction project for the track of the new southern railway access to the port of Castellón may be co-financed by the European Union’s ‘Connecting Europe’ Mechanism.
