Amid a slowdown in demand for newbuild ships internationally, orders from Greek shipowners continue at an undiminished pace. In this context, three new orders with a Greek “color” were placed last week, according to recent chartering brokerage reports.
Specifically, Capital, headed by Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, placed an order for the construction of one VLCC with a capacity of 306,000 dwt. This specific vessel will be built in China by Hengli Shipbuilding, for $118 million, with delivery expected in the 2026-2027 period. It is noted that the newbuild VLCC will be equipped with a scrubber.
Concurrently, Oceanbulk, of Mr. Petros Pappas’ interests, placed an order for two containerships, each with a transport capacity of 3,100 TEUs. The vessels will be built by the Chinese shipyard Zhoushan Changhong, with deliveries scheduled for the 2027-2028 period.
Finally, Alberta of Mr. Nikolas Inglessis placed an order for two containerships, each with a transport capacity of 1,900 TEUs, at the Chinese shipyard CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Wenchong. The agreement also includes an option right for the construction of two more vessels. The deliveries of the newbuild containerships are expected in 2027.
