The Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Dajin has just delivered to the Italian company Giovanni Visentini Trasporti Fluviomarittimi the first of two new bulk carriers just built and acquired in resale last June also thanks to the intermediation of the brokerage firm Unitramp. It was in fact named V Aldo, in honor of its founder Aldo Frulio, who recently passed away, a 40,800 gross tonnage dry bulk carrier purchased for just under 29 million dollars.
However, the ambitions and future plans of the Visentini family in the shipping sector will not be limited to this pair of bulk carriers because the CEO Alessandro Visentini tells SHIPPING ITALY that an agreement has been reached with the shipyard for a third option “and we are discussing a prototype ship together with the president of Bestway, Prof. Liu Nan, and the president of the Dajin shipyard, Mr. Yang Jiong Feng. It will be – continues Visentini – a prototype that, while maintaining the same characteristics, will have a greater width and a capacity of over 6,000 tons more. Obviously Rina and Rina consulting will be our guides”.
It is no coincidence that in China, among those present at the christening ceremony of the new bulk carrier V Aldo christened by godmother Barbara Visentini, was Ugo Salerno, president of Rina. Among others “Mr Joachim Zeppenfeld of Intermarine was also present, the company that has chartered the ship for the next 2 years (through brokers Stefano Atzeni and Maurizio Gozzi of HB Shipping)” adds Alessandro Visentini. “The godmother of the new ship, my sister Barbara, also organized a meeting for us with the Italian consul in Shanghai, Tiziana D’Angelo, because the intention is to establish and consolidate working relationships in China with industry players like Bestway and others”.
Ugo Salerno commented on this delivery by highlighting that “V Aldo, the first of the two new ships built in China for Visentini, marks another milestone in the collaboration that dates back to the dawn of Rina’s history. This bulk carrier, designed with significant flexibility for broad employment opportunities, is an example of how traditional maritime expertise meets modern innovation, setting standards that others look upon with admiration. The ship also strengthens our collaboration with Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry: over the last ten years we have delivered almost twenty ships together and our relationship is strengthening over time”.
