Vladimir Putin emphasized the need to minimize delays in civil shipbuilding schedules

When speaking at the meeting ondeveloping theshipbuilding industry, Russian President Vladimir Putin has directed attention of RF Government members and heads of shipbuilding companies to theneed todo everything possible toimplement our production programmes andtoreduce toaminimumtheinfluence ofthecurrent negative factors, although reducing of the negative impact tozero is impossible. According to the President, Russian shipbuilding companies have recently faced difficulties with supplies offoreign equipment andparts forcivilian vessels. He emphasized that thereplacement offoreign equipment andcomponents intheproduction offishing andother civilian vessels may affect theparameters ofcurrent projects. “This is obvious. Iam referring totheschedules andcosts ofredesigning, which is very important andaffects existing ship orders andbusinesses. Our colleagues inthefield are already reporting delays inshipbuilding schedules andchanges inother indicators,” said Vladimir Putin.

He reminded that this subject was raised atameeting ondeveloping theagro-industrial complex inthespring 2022. This meeting was followed byspecific instructions– toallocate anadditional 7 billion rubles toproduce Russian equipment forthefishing fleet.

“We need toset inmotion theinitiatives ofRussian shipbuilders, their domestic suppliers andcustomers, tosupport theupgrading ofour shipyards andoffer convenient financial mechanisms so that new orders forhigh-quality, modern vessels, including ice-class ships, are completed inRussia inorder toincrease thecapacities oftheNorthern Sea Route andour other Arctic projects,” said the President adding that it is especially important toset long-term guidelines forthedevelopment ofshipbuilding. “It is necessary toset schedules forshipyards based ontheneeds ofthecustomers intransport, fishing, energy, andothers.”

According to Vladimir Putin, construction ofhigh-tonnage ships is one ofthemain prospective areas inRussian shipbuilding. “We have already decided tosubsidise part ofthecosts ofthese projects when they are connected with thelocalisation ofplants andthecreation ofcutting-edge Russian technologies inthis area,” he emphasized.
