Following on from the announcement of the sale of Wärtsilä’s ANCS division to investment company Solix Group at the end of 2024, the company has announced the decision to split the divested business into two separate entities.
The current ANCS delivers hardware and software technologies for marine navigation and automation, including integrated navigation and automation systems, sensors and dynamic positioning.
That will now be split across two new businesses named NACOS Marine and Guidance Marine.
NACOS Marine will focus on delivering navigation and automation technologies, as well as the existing product line of integrated NACOS Platinum systems. Guidance Marine will aim to offer sensor technologies to the market, to provide increased precision in operations and improved situational awareness.
Investment firm Solix recently followed up its ANCS acquisition with a deal to acquire another maritime technology business, having agreed to purchase satcom antenna manufacturer Cobham Satcom earlier this month. That transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
