WATCH: Dolphin rig docking in Las Palmas to get ready for its gig in Nigeria

Dolphin Drilling’s Blackford Dolphin semi-submersible rig has arrived in Las Palmas, Spain, where it is expected to undergo a short recertification and maintenance work prior to embarking on its new assignment in Nigeria.

A few weeks ago, Dolphin Drilling disclosed that theBlackford Dolphinrig was on tow from Mexico to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

The rig was expected to arrive at its destination in mid-November to complete a short recertification and maintenance work scope, before setting sail for Nigeria, where the rig secured a 12-month contractwith General Hydrocarbons Limited (GHL) in early October, following aletter of awardin September 2022.

This deal is worth around $96 million and operations are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of this year. The rig has now docked at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The 1974-built Blackford Dolphinis a semi-submersible drilling rig of an Enhanced Aker H-3 design. This rig has recently completed an $83 million contract for Pemex in the Gulf of Mexico, whichstarted in December 2020.
