Watch: World’s largest civilian hospital ship delivers healthcare to less accessible harbors off Africa

Must read

Mercy Ships, an international charity that operates the largest non-governmental hospital ships in the world, uses hospital vessels to provide surgeries and medical assistance for free to people who have no, or little access to healthcare.

As mentioned by ABB, a global technology company, ABB’s Azipod propulsion enables the world’s largest civilian hospital ship to enter less accessible harbours off the African coast to support people in areas that would otherwise be too challenging to access.

“Global Mercy”, the newest Mercy Ships vessel, is the world’s largest purpose-built civilian hospital ship and ready to sail to West Africa.

The ABB’s Azipod propulsion systems will help the 174-meter ship navigate through narrow passages and dock in shallow harbors, which are less accessible to other vessels while reducing vibrations and noise – crucial to the comfort of up to 200 patients and medical personnel on board

…said ABB.
