Bernhard Schulte Offshore (BS Offshore) has officially taken delivery of its newest Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV), Windea Clausius, from Ulstein Verft.
Delivered on 5 September 2025, the vessel (yard number 321) is the second in the SX222 series and continues the collaboration between BS Offshore and Ulstein in advancing offshore vessel design and performance.
Designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS, Windea Clausius features the innovative TWIN X-STERN configuration, which includes azimuth propulsion units at both ends of the vessel.
This design enhances dynamic positioning capabilities, improves fuel efficiency, and ensures superior operability in challenging offshore environments.
The vessel is equipped with a centrally located, height-adjustable walk-to-work gangway and elevator tower, a 3D motion-compensated crane capable of lifting up to five tonnes, and a height-adjustable boat landing system that allows safe and seamless transfers to smaller crew transfer vessels.
Comfort and sustainability are central to the vessel’s design. Windea Clausius offers 90 daylight cabins for offshore personnel and a total of 111 cabins, accommodating up to 132 individuals. Life-saving equipment is provided for all onboard.
The vessel is outfitted with hybrid battery propulsion and is methanol-ready, supporting low-emission operations in line with the Schulte Group’s environmental goals.
Matthias Müller, Managing Director at BS Offshore, remarked that Windea Clausius completes their modern offshore fleet, which now includes five advanced vessels.
Named after the German physicist Rudolf Clausius, a pioneer in thermodynamics, Windea Clausius joins a fleet that includes Windea La Cour, Windea Leibniz, Windea Jules Verne, and Windea Curie—all previously delivered by Ulstein to BS Offshore. Bernhard Schulte Offshore, founded in 2015 and based in Hamburg, is the offshore division of the Schulte Group, which specialises in ship owning, management, maritime software, services, and asset management.
Ulstein, established in 1917, is a third-generation family-owned company known globally for its ship designs, shipbuilding expertise, and maritime system solutions.
