Fratelli Cosulich Group on Monday (13 October) announced the launching of Maya Cosulich — the world’s first methanol-powered IMO II chemical bunker tanker — at Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard on 9 October.

The ceremony was graced by Ms. Hoe Sook Mei from our Fratelli Cosulich Singapore office, who served as the Godmother of Maya Cosulich.

Designed by SeaTech Solutions International Pte Ltd, the Maya Cosulich features diesel-electric propulsion, onboard battery storage, and two mass flow meters (MFMs).

Fully compliant with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s (MPA) methanol bunkering standards, setting a new benchmark for safe and efficient delivery of alternative marine fuels in the region.

Upon her arrival and delivery to Singapore by the end of 2025, Maya Cosulich will commence operations under time charter with TFG Marine, becoming the first methanol dual-fuel bunker tanker to operate in the Port of Singapore.

Kenneth Dam, Head of Bunkering at TFG Marine, said: “The delivery of Maya Cosulich is excellent news for TFG Marine and for the Singapore bunkering market. Its addition to our fleet further strengthens our ability to offer customers a reliable and transparent supply of marine fuels, while supporting the industry’s transition towards low-carbon alternatives.”

Guido Cardullo, Head of Marine Energy at the Fratelli Cosulich Group, added: “Maya Cosulich represents our commitment to innovation and collaboration in the energy transition. Together with TFG Marine and our partners, we are demonstrating that sustainable solutions can go hand-in-hand with operational excellence.

“This vessel is not just a new addition to our fleet, but it’s a symbol of our vision for the future of bunkering in Singapore and beyond.”

The Maya Cosulich project represents the culmination of a collaboration that began in 2023 between Fratelli Cosulich Group, TFG Marine, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, and our technical and shipyard partners, showcasing a shared commitment to the advancement of low-emis- sion, alternative marine fuel solutions.

“As excited as we are about this milestone, we look forward to the vessel’s much-anticipated delivery and the start of operations in Singapore very soon,” the company added.
