BYD Co. Ltd., has introduced the BYD Shenzhen, the world’s largest car carrier with a capacity of 9,200 CEU (car equivalent units).
The BYD Shenzhen measures 220 meters long and 39 meters wide, featuring 16 decks and a maximum speed of 19 knots. It also incorporates sustainable solutions such as LNG dual-fuel propulsion, shaft generator, and shore power access. It’s the first of four similar ships commissioned by BYD.
Two more vessels are being built at the same Nanjing yard, while the remaining two are under construction at China Merchants’ Jiangsu shipyard. The vessel meets the latest IMO Tier III standards for emissions and efficiency.
Constructed by China Merchants Industry’s Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing and designed by Deltamarin. The ship was officially delivered on April 22 in Yizheng, Jiangsu Province, and has since embarked on its first voyage to Brazil.
