A major Turkish owner of tankers and bulk carriers has installed route planning software to improve navigation safety and environmental compliance
Turkey-headquartered shipowner Yasa Shipping & Trading has extended the use of a digital platform for vessel performance, ship navigation and emissions regulation compliance, rolling out the SeaNavigator platform from Weathernews across its fleet of tankers and bulk carriers.
SeaNavigator is used for route optimisation, ship monitoring and full environmental support covering IMO’s Carbon Intensity Index (CII), European Union’s emissions trading system (EU ETS), CO2 emissions monitoring service (ESM) and FuelEU reporting.
“Cutting-edge solutions and accurate forecasts have been instrumental in enhancing the safety and efficiency of our operations at sea,” said Yasa ship captain, Serkan Ozturk.
“Weathernews is an indispensable partner in tackling the challenges of maritime logistics. We look forward to achieving even greater milestones together.”
Meteorologists and voyage planners at Weathernews regularly communicate with ships across the Yasa fleet providing advice and updates.
Weathernews provides optimum ship routeing services to Yasa’s bulk carrier and tanker fleet, and performance monitoring data from vessel feeds into accurate voyage audit reports.
