Yilport Gävle inaugurates port expansion

Must read

Yilport Gävle has inaugurated its port expansion and named the three new ship-to-shore (STS) cranes that it has added to its fleet.

The new quay cranes allow Yilport Gävle Container Terminal, which is already the largest container terminal on the east coast of Sweden, to double its capacity to 600,000 teu.

They have been named Tor, Oden, and Frej which “signal strength and stamina, both of which will bring safe operations for the foreseeable future to the Port of Gävle”.

Yilport Gävle now has five STS cranes, six rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes and six mobile harbour cranes (MHCs), with the new equipment enabling more efficient and environmentally-friendly container handling.

Eryn Dinyoysky, Yilport Nordic general manager, and Port of Gävle CEO Fredrik Svanbom started the inauguration ceremony with a welcome speech.

Participants at the inauguration ceremony were given a site visit and were offered the opportunity to go up into the cranes, remote drive the new e-RTGs and visited Gävle’s CFS Paper Warehouse.
