Oman and Iran will form a committee that will reach an agreement on the “management of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz” and on related costs and services, according to a joint statement by the two countries. The two countries will hold talks with coastal countries and other interested parties,” the text of the joint statement states.

In fact, the head of the Iranian negotiating team and speaker of parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, announced on Telegram that Tehran and Muscat have formed a joint committee to discuss the issue of the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, the Iranian news agency Irna reported that an Iranian negotiating team under Ghalibaf visited Oman for talks on the management of Hormuz. The administration of the strait “will never return to what it was before the war,” Ghalibaf categorically assured, according to Irna.

“Iran will administer” the strait, he said.

At least 36 raw material transport ships crossed Hormuz yesterday, according to data from the Kpler platform, almost a week after the conclusion of the agreement protocol between Iran and the US.

Yesterday’s ship traffic corresponds to one third compared to the pre-war regime, when about 120 ships passed through the sea channel daily.
