On June 30, the 9th 50,000 DWT MR型 /chemical tanker “CAPE BOWEN”, built by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, for Cyprus-based SCHOELLER Group, was successfully signed and delivered.
The 9th 50,000 DWT MR型 /chemical tanker is the fourth vessel in the series of /chemical tankers built for SCHOELLER and is also one of the main ship types independently developed by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard. It features excellent performance, superior cargo adaptability, and flexibility.
As the final vessel in the series, the successful delivery of “CAPE BOWEN” not only demonstrates CSSC Chengxi Shipyard’s increasingly mature lean management capabilities in the construction of MR型 /chemical tankers but also further consolidates its in-depth cooperation with SCHOELLER. Since the vessel’s launch on January 23, the project team has anchored the delivery target, meticulously planned key milestone schedules, and worked closely with the owner and classification surveyor to efficiently advance all tasks, ensuring seamless衔接 across all stages. All performance indicators have met design standards.
It is worth noting that during the construction of six 50,000 DWT MR型 /chemical tankers, including “CAPE BOWEN”, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) was deeply involved throughout the process. After the delivery of “CAPE BOWEN”, ABS sent a special letter of thanks to CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, highly praising its construction quality and project management level. This is the best reward for the project team’s dedicated efforts and a strong endorsement of CSSC Chengxi Shipyard’s shipbuilding capabilities.
