Recently, Shanghai Qiyao Power Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Qiyao Power”), a subsidiary of CSSC No. 711 Research Institute, formally signed a procurement contract with Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. for a 0.5 t/h MR-type LNG re-liquefaction device. This device will be installed on a 20,000 m³ LNG bunkering vessel in Shanghai Port, breaking the long-term foreign technological and market monopoly and providing a localized solution for the green transformation of the shipping industry.
Qiyao Power, in collaboration with the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has overcome core technical bottlenecks such as precise mixing ratio of mixed refrigerants, efficient multi-stream heat exchange, and stable control of low-temperature systems through years of joint research and development, successfully developing a marine MR-type LNG re-liquefaction device with fully independent intellectual property rights. Measured data shows that the specific power consumption of this series of devices is more than 20% lower than similar products on the market, offering a significant advantage in energy consumption control.
Relying on mature mixed-refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigeration technology, Qiyao Power has established a re-liquefaction product matrix covering a full processing capacity gradient of 0.5 t/h to 6 t/h, forming a “one-stop” gas comprehensive solution capability. This product matrix is not only suitable for the recovery and treatment of LNG boil-off gas but has also been extended to various low-temperature media such as ethane, ethylene, ammonia, and LPG, capable of meeting the boil-off gas recovery needs of low-temperature media in different scenarios including LNG carriers, VLECs, LEG carriers, LPG carriers, and offshore platforms.
This new breakthrough in the application of LNG re-liquefaction devices demonstrates the maturity of China’s localized technology for marine low-temperature equipment, further promoting the independent upgrading of the LNG ship supporting industry chain. In the future, Qiyao Power will continue to focus on comprehensive ship gas solution needs, further expanding and upgrading the re-liquefaction product matrix to support the green and low-carbon transformation of the shipping industry.
