From May 4 to 5, at the Mingdong Terminal of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port Area, Pacific International Lines’ 8200TEU dual-fuel LNG-powered container vessel “Kota Ocean”, in collaboration with Shanghai Energy, successfully completed a bonded LNG fuel simultaneous operation bunkering of 4,300 cubic meters. This bunkering operation is of great significance, as it marks both the first LNG bunkering operation at Mingdong Terminal and the first LNG fuel bunkering by Pacific International Lines in the Waigaoqiao Port Area, signifying important progress in green energy and port-shipping coordination between Pacific International Lines and the Port of Shanghai.

This simultaneous LNG bunkering operation took place during China’s May Day holiday and received strong support from the Pudong Maritime Safety Administration and the Wusong Maritime Safety Administration. The operations team of Pacific International Lines’ Shanghai branch worked closely with Shanghai Energy and Mingdong Terminal, ensuring smooth coordination and precise execution across all stages, from the timing of the bunkering vessel’s entry into port and hose connection to the adaptation of container loading and unloading rhythms, guaranteeing that “Kota Ocean” achieved both cargo handling and bunkering without conflict.

Compared with traditional fuel oil, the use of LNG fuel can significantly reduce emissions of sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter. This is an important measure for Pacific International Lines to continuously advance fleet renewal and move towards green and low-carbon shipping. Pacific International Lines will continue to work closely with ports, energy suppliers, and regulatory authorities to jointly promote the sustainable development of the shipping industry.
